Culture Syndicates carried out two days of collections training at Nottinghamshire Mining Museum. The Mining Museum is a pop-up museum located in Mansfield.
In the first stage of the training, Culture Syndicates trained the museum’s volunteers in general collections care, including cleaning, labelling and wrapping objects. As a result, the volunteer team learnt essential collections skills, which will allow them to care for the objects in their collection. The second day focused upon the museum’s collections policy and upon organising the library catalogue. The volunteers will now be able to order their collection in order to make it more navigable. The skills that the volunteers have learnt during the training will make the museum more sustainable and ensure that experts and audiences can enjoy the fascinating objects in the future.
