The Mercian Regiment is the Heart of England’s Infantry, recruiting from the five counties which formed the ancient Kingdom of Mercia: Cheshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire. With the training and guidance of Culture Syndicates’ collection team, Nottingham Trent University students catalogued and documented the movement of the Nottingham Mercian Regiment’s collection for a full gallery refurbishment at Nottingham Castle as part of their Museum Development Masters Degrees. This significantly improved the curator’s capacity and gave the students in-depth live experience.
