about the project

Our Books Exhibition explores how books have developed over time and how their development has enabled people across the world to access ideas and enriching experiences contained in the written word.

Across five panels, this exhibition reveals how books have been shaped across several key chronological periods. Each panel assesses key milestones in history; from the time before books, to the medieval period, to the industrial revolution and beyond, this exhibition brings us to the modern day time of ebooks. Amongst other questions, it looks at how changes in technology over time have impacted the development of books.

The chronological approach will encourage your audience to find comparisons and contrasts between books in the past and present. Within the panels are a series of questions designed to engage audiences of all ages and to encourage dialogue between your visitors.
